This is my final piece for Advanced Higher Art, done in my final year of school. My theme was 'Icons', significantly famous individuals who had died while at the height of their fame, and how they're aubmersion in fame and media affected their humanity. Confused yet? (: I picked four icons from different eras with very contrasted visual styles, and incorporated them into a final costume that was to be 'a tribute'. My icons were:

Marilyn Monroe (50s glamour & feminity)
Sid Vicious (punk & destruction)
Freddie Mercury (opulence & avant garde)
Michael Jackson ('Thriller' decay & futuristic).

I'll be uploading details to this dress, sicne I worked my arse off on it, and it's full of so many layers of work and tiny tiny details. It's actually pretty fully functional apart from the ribs which are a hazard really. One's lying broken next to me as we speak, but it's been off to the examiners and back so it's not a problem. I got an A for this if anyone's was wondering. ()

I'll explain each component better later.

Wow, that's awesome! Congrats for the A (:
Are the pictures printed on the fabric or attached some other way?
On the front view the ribs seemed like fingers - for some reason reminded me of Tim Burton. Creepy (:
